Important Update: India Tourist Visa Resumed for Bangladeshi Nationals (June 2026)

If you’re planning an India trip, read this first. India suspended tourist visa services for Bangladeshi nationals for nearly two years following the political unrest of August 2024. Standard tourist visa applications officially resumed on June 28, 2026, announced by the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh at the IVAC centre in Dhaka.

What you need to know right now:

  • Applications are accepted at five IVAC centres: Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Sylhet, and Khulna, with more centres expected to open over time

  • No Indian government visa fee for Bangladeshi nationals under the bilateral agreement — this has never changed

  • IVAC service charge applies (revised August 2025) — confirm the current amount when booking, as this is periodically updated

  • No e-Visa and no visa-on-arrival for Bangladeshi passport holders — a sticker visa from IVAC is mandatory before travel, whether flying or crossing by land

  • Standard tourist visas are typically valid 30–90 days for single entry; multiple-entry visas are also available

  • Expect a backlog in the weeks following reopening — after a two-year gap, demand is high. We recommend applying well in advance of your intended travel date

  • Medical visas continued to be processed on humanitarian grounds even during the suspension period, and remain a priority category

Since this situation has changed multiple times over the past two years, always confirm current status with our visa team or at ivacbd.com before finalizing travel dates. Our Visa Service team handles the full IVAC application process.

Dhaka to India — Flight & Land Border Options

India is one of the few destinations Bangladeshi travelers can reach entirely overland, and many of our Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Sikkim-bound travelers use this route rather than flying:

By Air: Direct and connecting flights from Dhaka to Kolkata take approximately 1 hour direct; Delhi and Mumbai are reached via a short layover, typically 3–4 hours total.

By Land: The most commonly used border crossings are:

  • Benapole–Petrapole (near Jessore) — the busiest route, most convenient for Kolkata-bound trips

  • Akhaura–Agartala — convenient for travelers heading toward Northeast India (Shillong, Guwahati, Cherrapunjee)

  • Burimari–Changrabandha and Banglabandha–Fulbari — used for trips heading toward Siliguri, Darjeeling, and Sikkim

A valid Indian visa is required regardless of whether you fly or cross by land — there’s no visa-on-arrival at any border crossing.

India Tour Package Cost — What Actually Changes the Price

  • Region and distance: Shorter, closer trips (Gangtok, 4D/3N from ৳27,000; Northeast India, 5D/4N from ৳19,000) cost less than longer multi-city itineraries (Grand India Multi-City, 14D/13N from ৳71,725).

  • Season: Kashmir and Himachal (Shimla-Manali) see peak pricing during summer (April–June) when Bangladeshi and Indian domestic travelers alike escape the heat; Darjeeling and Sikkim are busiest October–March for clear mountain views.

  • Transport mode: Fly-in packages generally cost more than land-route packages for Kolkata/Northeast-adjacent destinations, since flights add cost that overland travel avoids.

  • Number of cities: Multi-city packages (Golden Triangle + Kolkata, or the 14-day Grand India tour) cost more due to additional internal flights or long train/road segments between cities.

  • Group size: Larger groups typically get better per-person rates on shared vehicle transport, especially for hill destinations like Sikkim and Darjeeling where private car hire is common.

India Group Tour Packages

For groups of 6+, most of our regional circuits (Golden Triangle, Shimla-Manali, Darjeeling-Sikkim) can be arranged with:

  • Shared vehicle transport between cities, cheaper per head than individual transfers

  • Group rates at partner hotels across multi-city itineraries

  • A dedicated group coordinator managing visa documentation for the full group — useful given the current post-resumption IVAC backlog, since group applications can sometimes be coordinated together

Contact us with your group size and preferred region for a customized quote.

India Family Tour Package

Family-friendly circuits generally favor easier terrain and shorter travel legs between stops:

  • Darjeeling and Gangtok — toy train rides, tea garden walks, and monastery visits that work well across age groups

  • Goa — beach access with minimal walking, a wide range of family-friendly resorts

  • Golden Triangle — historically significant and visually striking (Taj Mahal, Amber Fort) without requiring high-altitude travel or strenuous trekking

Kashmir and high-altitude Sikkim routes (Lachung) involve longer mountain drives and higher altitudes — worth discussing with our team if traveling with young children or elderly family members.

India Honeymoon Tour Package

Popular honeymoon circuits lean toward scenic, slower-paced hill and coastal destinations:

  • Shimla & Manali — classic hill-station romance, with Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass activities for couples wanting some adventure alongside the scenery

  • Kashmir — Dal Lake houseboat stays in Srinagar and the Mughal gardens (Shalimar Bagh) are a longstanding honeymoon favorite

  • Goa — beach-resort pacing, a contrast to the hill-station options above

  • Darjeeling — tea estate views and the Himalayan Railway, a quieter and more budget-friendly honeymoon alternative to Kashmir or Himachal

India Golden Triangle Tour Package

The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur — remains India’s most-booked circuit for first-time visitors:

  • Taj Mahal, Agra — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most recognized landmarks

  • Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal, Jaipur — the “Pink City’s” signature Rajput architecture

  • Qutub Minar and India Gate, Delhi — anchoring the capital’s historical sightseeing

We offer this as both a standalone 7-day circuit and combined with Kolkata for travelers wanting to add a Bengali-cultural stop en route.

India Hill Station Tour Package

Beyond the well-known Shimla-Manali circuit, India’s hill stations vary meaningfully by altitude, crowd level, and scenery:

  • Darjeeling — tea gardens, the UNESCO-listed Himalayan Railway, and Kangchenjunga views, generally quieter and more budget-friendly than Kashmir or Himachal

  • Gangtok & Lachung, Sikkim — higher-altitude, closer to the Bangladesh border via the Northeast route, popular for travelers wanting dramatic mountain scenery without the longer flight/travel time to Kashmir

  • Shimla & Manali — the most-visited hill circuit, with more built-up tourist infrastructure and easier access to adventure activities like paragliding at Solang Valley

  • Ooty, part of our South India circuit — a cooler-climate alternative in the south, distinct in character from the Himalayan hill stations above
